Sardine Route in Portimão and Ferragudo  Available

We will start the tour by visiting Conserveira do Arade, which, using artisanal methods, reinvented the old sardine canning industry to use glass jars instead of cans, with an innovative twist of flavors. After visiting the canning factory and understanding the production process, you will taste some preserved sardines, tuna and mackerel accompanied by a glass of wine.

We will then visit the charming village of Ferragudo with fishermen working in their nets next to the river, and a beautiful viewpoint over the Arade River.

The tour continues in the neighboring city of Portimão, on the other bank of the river, to visit the exhibition on the canning industry at the Portimão Museum, which was actually built in an old canning factory, next to the pier where the fish was unloaded.

We will finish in style, enjoying delicious tapas made with preserved fish, at the Maria do Mar gourmet shop and restaurant.
